21st Century Learning

  • Distance Learning

CECH supports a variety of online programs to meet the needs of working professionals. All are available completely online, without a single visit to a UC campus. CECH is the university-wide leader in the number of classes and programs offered online.

Health in 21st Century

  • Women’s Health/Children’s Health

CECH offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs in health promotion and education, and a certificate in child abuse recognition. These degrees focus on topics relevant to women’s and children’s health and well-being, including the prevention of childhood obesity, and both bullying and suicide prevention.

Science & Technology in the 21st Century

      • STEMM partnerships

CECH partners with Hughes High School, Taft Elementary School, College of Arts & Science and College of Engineering.

Urban Solutions for the 21st Century

      • Urban Engagement and Problem Solving

All CECH programs address strategies for engaging urban populations within the context of the specific academic area. The college offers a doctorate degree in Urban Educational Leadership which specializes in these issues specifically.

      • Issues of Social Justice

All CECH programs involve the theme of social justice, as it relates to the context of the academic program. Education and criminal justice students evaluate, discuss and apply new knowledge to issues of social justice throughout their programs.

      • Criminal Justice Research

All degrees in criminal justice include research strategies and data analysis for decision-making and systems planning. Coursework often involves access to data provided by CECH’s Center for Criminal Justice Research. Results of this research are evidenced by the dramatic reduction of violence in Cincinnati through the Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV).

      • Education Access and Success in Urban Settings

An associates degree in early childhood education provides students with the opportunity to work with professionals in the field. Online programs offer the convenience and flexibility of distance learning. Fostering success in all students, particularly those from urban settings, is a core value infused into all CECH programs.  CECH also provides assistance to Spanish speaking students seeking to earn an associates degree in early childhood education. The entire program is conducted in Spanish.
