RE:  UC MasterCard Fund Grant Request Process

In an environment that continues to challenge our financial resources, we are pleased to inform you of a new window for UC MasterCard Grant applications.  As you may be aware, the UC MasterCard program and Grant Request process constitute a collaborative effort between the University of Cincinnati and its Alumni Association (UCAA).  A university affinity agreement with Fifth Third Bank provides for the marketing of UC MasterCards.  Using these cards generates a revenue stream that underwrites initiatives that embody UC|21 principles and objectives — specifically, our need to recruit and retain students, to engage our broader base of UC alumni, and to promote UC in the process.

It’s important for you to know how to participate in the process of requesting and utilizing these funds, and for you to be a champion of this program in order to help sustain it.  As part of your Grant Request planning, you are also encouraged to work with UCAA to further support two key activities — promoting/funding scholarships through the C-Paw license plate program, and engaging alumni through UCAA membership.

Visit http://www.alumni.uc.edu/opportunities/MasterCard_Grant_Requests.html to learn more about the UC MasterCard Fund Grant Request process, including detailed instructions about how to apply, plus information on the program parameters, deadlines and expectations.  Then, please do the following:

·        Consider how the program might benefit your department or unit while also supporting student-focused UC|21 ideals and/or engaging our alumni.  Review the UC MasterCard Fund Grant Request materials closely and follow through as directed.

·        Spread the word to others about this opportunity and our collective need to support it.  In particular, please distribute this link to those in your area who may benefit from these grants.

·        Visibly show your pride in UC and support our students by displaying C-Paw license plates if you have vehicles registered in Ohio.

·        Join your UC Alumni Association with a membership commitment for as little as $45.  Membership is recognized as a gift to UC.

This opportunity represents the last MasterCard Grant window until a new affinity card agreement is negotiated by the university and the UCAA, a process which will determine the future scope of this program.

Thanks to the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association, we have the opportunity to generate additional revenues for our academic and engagement programs; in face, over the last four years, more than $1.5 million in UC MasterCard Grant Funds have supported dozens of initiative. I would very much appreciate your ongoing support and participation in this timely and important endeavor.
