Award Overview

The Office of the Provost is accepting applications for Professional Development Funds from Universal Providers. Article 24.3.3 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the AAUP and UC provides $225,000 in Faculty Development Funds for Universal Providers.

Faculty development consists of activities and opportunities designed to improve the quality of faculty members’ engagement in teaching, research, service, and leadership. The Collective Bargaining Agreement states, “As part of its comprehensive faculty development approach, the University of Cincinnati shall provide faculty development programs through all-university access programming organized by Universal Providers. Universal Providers are university-established initiatives or agencies including, but not limited to, Instructional Research and Computing (IRC), the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning (CETL), the University of Cincinnati Libraries, or agencies established at branch campuses.”

Application and Submission Process

Universal Providers are funded on a year-by-year basis. Proposals for the 2017-18 academic year are due by November 16, 2017, and must include the following information as a single Word or PDF file:

A narrative that provides a brief background statement, a summary of the proposed activity, an overview of the beneficiaries, and an explanation of the benefits and impact of the proposed activity (1000 word maximum)

  • A 1-page timeline
  • A 1-page budget outline
    • funds allocated under this Article can not be used for the regular fiscal operating budget, including, but not limited to salaries
