UC|Great Beginnings is the cornerstone upon which your university learning experience is built. It is comprised of multiple experiences gained through your classes, hands-on and community-based projects, as well as co-curricular activities that are specially designed to introduce you to the types of learning activities and level of accomplishment that graduating students are expected to demonstrate.
The purpose of the Choose Ohio First Scholarships (COFS) is to encourage students, who are residents of Ohio, to pursue careers in science and technology or to become science or math teachers. The concept is that generally graduates with a higher education degree achieve higher paying jobs, (or may create start-up businesses), which in the end, pay more taxes and re-pay the state in this long-term investment in its citizens.
The Division leads the Cooperative Education Program, which for over 100 years has provided students with the opportunity to alternate full-time terms of school and work to provide them with a solid base of experience and professional development. Additionally, it also launched: Academic Internship Program, Center for Cooperative Education Research and Innovation, and Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement.
The General Education Core has a firm foundation in UC’s Academic Plan, to reaffirm liberal education as the core to preparing students as life-long learners. Our General Education course requirements are purposefully designed to strengthen four important learning outcomes or competencies throughout the student’s progress toward their degree. The four Baccalaureate Competencies are: Critical Thinking, Effective Communication, Knowledge Integration, and Social Responsibility.
The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards at the University of Cincinnati is a resource for outstanding students at the university who seek to compete for the most prestigious and most highly competitive scholarships and fellowships such as the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships for postgraduate study and the Truman and Goldwater scholarships for undergraduate study.
University Honors is committed to helping students maximize their educational opportunities at UC while discovering and pursuing their passions in life and using their gifts and talents to make meaningful contributions to society. The University Honors Program comprises the top 7% of University of Cincinnati undergraduate students and offers an engaging environment in which students are inspired to experience more and learn more.
UC Forward is an exciting new teaching and learning initiative - pairing students, faculty and external experts, each from differing perspectives - to create innovative and transformative answers to problems and uniquely develop tomorrow's workforce.
