What to Expect from an Assessment Interview

How long will the interview take?

The interview will last one hour or less.  Your interviewer will have a structured interview guide to follow and will take notes during the interview.

Do I need to prepare for this interview?

Not at all.  You will be asked simple questions about your unit, your department and your role. There is no need for you to do any preparation.

What kinds of questions will be asked?

The first part of the interview will be spent in learning about you, your job, and how long you’ve been at UC. Then the interviewer will ask a series of questions about what you know, if anything, about the possible software acquisition and implementation. You will also be asked your opinion on a series of topics such as how well people work together, how much leadership support there is for this project and what concerns you have about the project.

What will be on the questionnaire?

There will be a common set of questions for all participants. In addition, there will be questions that will be specific to your role. For example, IT personnel will complete a set of questions specific to their roles. Personnel from functional departments (e.g., admissions, bursar, financial aid) will complete a different set of questions, and academic personnel will complete yet another set of questions.

Purpose of the interview:

The Collegiate Project Services interviewer is trying to learn as much as possible about UC, the work you and your unit does, your use or and your work as it relates to a student information system and more. The purpose of the interviews is to gather your opinions on these topics. The information gained from all the interviews will be used to help plan and organize the evaluation of the enterprise solutions and readiness to implement new system(s).

Who is the interviewer?

Your interviewer will be an experienced staff consultant from Collegiate Project Services, an independent project management firm that specializes in helping higher education prepare for software implementations.

Will I get to learn the results from the interviews?

Yes. Everyone who participates in the interviews will get a summary of key findings.

Additional information:

Please note that all interviews are confidential. Collegiate Project Services will produce a report in which trends and summaries are presented, but no individual response will be revealed.
