One of the goals of this project is to document the functional capabilities of the current student systems in use at the University of Cincinnati. To this end, we will be launching an online survey called DecisionDirector.
What is DecisionDirector?
DecisionDirector is a web-enabled group decision making toolset from Advantiv. This tool has been used by many higher education institutions to rapidly and efficiently document the functional and technical capabilities of their administrative applications. In addition, this tool can be used to identify those capabilities that users would like to have, but do not now possess with their current software.
How does DecisionDirector work?
The process of using DecisionDirector is straightforward. At their convenience, selected UC stakeholders will log in to DecisionDirector and then access one or more of the several requirements libraries, called KnowledgePacks.
KnowledgePacks exist for Admissions, Recruiting, Advising, Degree Audit, Self Service, Financial Aid, Loan Processing, Reporting, Web Portal, Portfolio, Cashiering and many others. For each functionality requirement in the library, users indicate whether or not UC currently has that functionality. In addition, users will rate how critical the functionality is, from “must have” to “nice to have,” etc.
How long will it take?
DecisionDirector may take up to an hour or more to fill out, depending on which KnowledgePack the participant is qualified to respond to. For example, the Student Records KnowledgePack has many more capabilities to rate than the Admissions KnowledgePack. The good news is that the user may work on this survey in small chunks of time. That is, the user may leave DecisionDirector and then return at a later time to finish completing the survey.
Do I need to prepare?
Not at all. You will be presented with a number of software capabilities. Your task is simply to indicate whether the current UC system has that capability or not. You will also be asked to rate the importance of that capability from “must have” to “nice to have,” etc.
Is there a deadline for me to fill out DecisionDirector?
The timeframe for access to DecisionDirector will likely be in a ten-day window. The deadline for completing your DecisionDirector responses will be stated in the invitation email you receive.
Will I learn about the results?
Yes. A summary of the results from DecisionDirector will made available.
