Goal Attainment

Girl studying on steps

At the University of Cincinnati, we constantly measure our students’ progress and assess how effectively our many programs are helping students succeed—both on campus and beyond.  We are proud to note the following:

  • 84% of baccalaureate degree seeking students entering UC in 2009 returned for their sophomore year.  Our retention of students from year to year has remained steady or has increased since 2000
  • 55% of students graduate within six years of matriculating at the university
  • The number of new transfer students has increased 42% from 2004 to 2009.  Also, 67% of transfer students are returning for their second year
  • UC’s incoming class of 2009 had an average ACT comprehensive score of 24.8—an all-time high for UC.  The quality of students choosing to attend UC is going up.  Also of interest:

    -  27.4% of entering freshman have a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher
    -  11% have an ACT score of 30-36
    -  49% have an ACT score of 24-29
    -  49% are in the top quarter of their high school's graduating class

UC 's efforts to recruit and retain a diverse student body is meeting with increasing success (autumn 2009):

Of the students who earned a baccalaureate degree in the 2008-2009 academic year, 67% have a job upon graduation and 21.4% plan to further their education

UC also participates in the National Survey of Student Engagement, which allows us to receive valuable feedback from our students about their experience at UC.
