Interdisciplinary teams will curate a unique collection of historical and valuable garments designed by Bonnie Cashin (1907-2000), one of the most significant and highly innovative American fashion designers who was synonymous with the Coach brand. Each team will analyze, digitize, and document a set of garments from the UC Bonnie Cashin historical collection, including construction and pattern analysis, conservation techniques, photography, and online database work. Work done in teams will be unified via a comprehensive, globally accessible and permanent online exhibition that both features the garments and contextualizes Cashin's social, cultural, and intellectual milieu.
This course meets the Experiential Learning and Fine Art BoK requirements for graduation and can be taken as an independent study!
