NightRide

NightRide is a free nighttime transportation service provided to the UC campus community by Public Safety.  It exists to provide safe and reliable transportation to and from locations within a one mile radius around the UC campus.  The service is available for students, faculty and staff.  Your UC ID is required to use the service, and you may take one non-UC person as a guest.

NightRide is pleased to announce a significant service expansion for spring semester.  In response to the overwhelming demand, we have added staff and vehicles.

Three new vans were purchased, bringing our fleet up to five, including one that is wheelchair accessible.  We have expanded our dispatch operation with additional personnel and new software to speed handling of your calls and allow us better tracking of usage.  During peak times we are also contracting with Croswell bus company (who operates the UC shuttle system) to provide us with additional vans.  Instead of two to three vans, we will now have from four to eight vans available.

Because NightRide is staffed by student employees, we have had limitations on how late service could be provided.  Public Safety has now assigned additional full time staff to provide the NightRide service during the later hours.  This late hour service will initially be provided by one van, but we will adjust this as necessary.

For those who want an escort to their own car in a garage on campus, or just from one building to another, we are also adding walking escort teams.

These changes are a direct result of your input to us.  We will be closely monitoring the service to see how these changes work, and making any necessary adjustments.  Please contact us by email at  PublicSafety@uc.edu or call the NightRide coordinator at (513) 556-4912.
