Mission Statement
Provide services that promote a
safe, secure and accommodating environment.
Welcome
Welcome to the University of
Cincinnati, Department of Public Safety’s website. As the head of this
department I would like to provide some basic facts about our operation:
The Department of Public Safety
is comprised of four distinct, but inter-related units – University Police,
Emergency Preparedness, Parking Services, and Support Services.
The University Police Division
is under the direction of Lt. Col. Margaret Rose. It is the primary law
enforcement agency for all campuses of the University of Cincinnati. They are a
full-service agency responsible for preventive patrol as well as investigation
of crimes committed on University property.
Capt. Karen Patterson has responsibility for
crime prevention operations on all UC
campuses, as well as the community safety
initiative for the off-campus neighborhoods
surrounding the Uptown campus.
The Emergency Preparedness unit
is under the direction of Captain Jeff Corcoran, and is responsible for Fire
Safety inspections, fire prevention activities, and development and updating of
the University Emergency Operations Plan.
Parking Services operates and maintains Approximately 12,000
parking spaces in garages and surface lots on three separate campuses (East,
West and College of Applied Sciences). It is one of the largest parking
operations in the region.
Support Services is directed by
Darlene Bunton, Assistant Director of Public Safety and is responsible for all
business functions of the Department of Public Safety as well as the Access
Control, Emergency Communications and Special Events planning/coordinating.
The University Police, Parking
Services, Emergency Preparedness, Access Control and Emergency Communications
have their own websites that provide more information about their individual
operations. I encourage you to visit these sites.
