The four fire inspectors of the Fire Prevention unit work to help provide a fire safe campus through:
- Performing regular fire safety inspections in all University buildings.
- Reviewing plans for all new construction and renovation to ensure fire safety.
- Conducting fire safety training and drills.
- Investigating the causes of fires and fire alarms.
All of the inspectors are State Certified Fire Safety Inspectors, as well as trained in arson investigation. They work in conjunction with detectives of the UC Police to investigate not only arson fires, but any criminal damage caused to life safety systems on the campuses.
Fire Safety Education
The University of Cincinnati provides an extensive program of fire safety education for students. All students living in our residence halls are required to complete an on-line safety program. Students living off-campus are encouraged to use a provided safety checklist before renting. We also provide educational presentations to student groups on request.
