About Our Personal Trainers Our personal trainers go through an extensive training program and are required to pass a written and practical exam before they are qualified to train clients. Many of our trainers are students who are earning a degree in the profession.
Name: Philip Barbe Degree: Criminal Justice Experience: U.C. certified Personal Trainer (Individual and small group training), former Nasco-Certified Deep Water lifeguard, 2006 Air Force ROTC Physical Fitness Officer, 2006 Air Force ROTC Falcon Team Leader, High School Ice Hockey (4yrs.), High School Track (2 yrs.), Flying Pig Marathon, Air Force ROTC Field Training Graduate, Air Force Combat Systems Officer Candidate. Favorite Exercises: Lat Row/Pull-down, Free/Weighted Dips, deadlift, hanging leg-raises Motto/Philosophy: It’s all in the mind…You can learn to tolerate or overcome anything if you condition your mind to allow you to do it. Name: Ashley Berberich Degree: BS, Health Sciences, concentration in Sports & Biomechanics; pursuing Master's of Education in Health Promotion, Community Health focus at UC Experience: Nationally Certified by the Scirion Institute of Exercise Physiology (SIEP-CPT). Worked at the CRC for over 2 years as a trainer, fitness instructor and Group Fitness Supervisor. Undergraduate coursework included physiology, biomechanics and fitness testing. I am able to accommodate programs for various populations, fitness levels, and have experience with people rehabbing past injuries. I've participated and coached competitive dance teams, which focused on endurance and toning exercise. Name: Erica Fye Degree: Nutrition and Exercise with Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Experience: Senior majoring in Nutrition and Exercise with (DPD) in Dietetics. Undergraduate course work including: anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, behavior and fitness, kinesiology, nutrition and exercise, physics, and physiology of exercise. High school Varsity Track (4 years), High school Varsity Volleyball (4years), High school Swim Team (2 years), Buckeye Sprint Triathlon Participant - 2nd place in age group; Lifeguard at the CRC; CPR, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid Certified. Favorite Exercise: Running and Abs. Motto/Philosophy: Never pass up an opportunity for a new experience. Always try something once. Health Interest: Circuit Training, Weight Loss, Strength Training, and all over Toning. Activities/Clubs: Anything athletic. Running, participating in Triathlons, racing, Intramural sports at UC including: soccer, volleyball, basketball, flag football, and softball.
