Climbing Wall Staff

Climbing Wall Specialists
Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a safe environment through required, daily safety checks of equipment, patron rigging and belay technique
  • Providing a clean and organized climbing area
  • Entering information into the participant database 
  • Assisting patrons to better ensure a safe and fun climbing experience.

Qualification: 

  • Specialists must display strong work ethic, dependability, motivation, and ability to work independently.
  • Outdoor adventure activity background (personal and/or job related) is helpful. Knowledge of outdoor and climbing equipment is helpful.
  • Starting pay is $6.85/hour. 

Climbing Wall Leads
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the climbing wall including, but not limited to, leadership and supervision of staff along with explanation of policies and procedures to members and staff.
  • Assisting in the planning and conducting of in-service training for the staff of the CRCW and Campus Recreation as a whole.
  • Assist participants with registering for Climbing and Outdoor Clinics.
  • Opening and closing all Point of Sale (POS) areas that exist at the CRCW including setting up and closing out the cash register, credit card machine, and computer.

Qualifications: 

  • Leads must display good work ethic, dependability, self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred. An application and resume must be on record with the CRCW Manager to be considered for the position. 
  • Starting pay is $7.00/hour.

Climbing Wall Instructors
Responsibilities:

  • Instructors at times find themselves functioning much like a Lead, but with a stronger emphasis on education.
  • The Instructor is expected to have excellent skill, background knowledge, and general expertise in the specific area of belay instruction.
  • The Instructor is in charge of planning, leading, and evaluating CRCW Belay Clinics and Programs.

Qualifications:

  • Teaching ability and enthusiasm for working with people are a must.
  • Instructors must display good work ethic, dependability, motivation and ability to work independently. An application and climbing resume must be on record with the CRCW Manager to be considered for the position. 
  • Starting pay is $8.00/hour.
