ABS CORE CLINIC

This eight-week intensive class will focus on the core, with both strength and flexibility in mind. Come to this class to learn everything you would ever need to know to firm and tone your tummy area to lose those extra inches!

ARGENTINE TANGO
This class progresses through the basics of Argentine Tango moving you up to completing a full dance comfortably. Two instructors will help to engage everyone in this beautiful dance that will make you think you are "Dancing with the Stars."

BELLY DANCING (Intermediate)
Belly dancing is a fun, rhythmic dance that combines edgy and flowing movements to create a beautiful and harmonious energy. This dance is soft and slow at times, energetic and fast at others. It is a great abdominal workout which will help to increase flexibility. This class is designed for individuals with previous belly dancing experience, such as Intro to Belly Dancing. Note: a hip belt is required for all students, which they must purchase on their own.

Fit Kidz 4 Life
It’s a fact: obesity and inactivity rates are higher than ever today. Fit Kidz 4 Life, a five-week program, is designed for all kids between the ages of 6 and 14. Children will learn how to use the food pyramid and engage in physical activity to prevent diabetes and obesity. By teaching the essentials of nutrition and increasing physical activity, we will provide heart healthy choices and activities for the future health of our youth. This class will challenge kids to take responsibility for their own lifestyle choices and find suitable health goals to accomplish. Help your child capitalize on the weekend workout, and become a Fit Kid 4 Life!

Golf Conditioning Clinic
Aiming to decrease your handicap or possibly birdie a hole each round? This golf-specific functional exercise training class will help golfers of all abilities raise their game to next level. This program is designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and focus using free weights, medicine balls, BOSU, resist-a-ball, and bands. Note: this class does not provide instruction on golf swing techniques or skills.

Throw punches in bunches in a safe, non-contact setting while learning boxing techniques in this total body shaping and conditioning class. Receive one-on-one instruction from a UC-certified personal trainer and sculpt your body in a fun, high-energy environment.  Note:  participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle to each class.

Mixed Martial Arts I
Participants will learn basic mixed martial arts (MMA) techniques in both the standing and ground ranges of combat. There is little to no contact in this course which is designed to prepare you for MMA 2. Mouthguard and athletic cup recommended.

Mixed Martial Arts II
Must have completed MMA I or have prior permission from head instructor to register for this course. There will be light to medium contact in this class.  In addition, participants will learn several striking drills as well as grappling in a close to live scenario. Participants will also learn wrestling takedowns and defenses which are applicable to MMA. Mouthguard , cup, and 12-16 oz boxing gloves are required for this course.

Shape Up
A variety of basic toning and strength training techniques are combined in this eight-week group fitness setting. Emphasis will be placed on form and technique while completing exercises using dumbbells, medicine balls, machines, resistance bands, and stability balls. Class is geared for the beginner; although accommodation for the more experienced can be made.

Submission Grappling for MMA
In this course offers participants the opportunity to learn more detailed aspects of the ground fighting game. Whether you seek additional training for MMA or are just interested in submission grappling itself there is plenty to be learned in this course.

Get in shape with a total boy workout on the GTS (Gravity Training System) machines. This intense energetic and fun 45 minute work out will enhance dynamic stability and improve overall body composition. The GTS uses a multi-plane movement pattern that is appropriate for individuals of all levels of fitness and is also beneficial to those recovering from an injury. Total Gravity is a great addition to any current exercise program and an excellent way to stay in shape.

Traditional Karate & Defense
Chito Ryu is a traditional Japanese style of Karate with Okinawan and Chinese roots. Developed by a medical physician of renowned martial skill, the Chito Ryu curriculum is designed to achieve optimal physical health, confidence, and an overall sense of well-being: all critical components of personal safety and defense. Class will emphasize blocking, striking, wrist and choke releases, and increasing personal awareness. No previous experience required - all are welcome. Instructed by a 5th degree black belt whose study of Chito Ryu began in 1983.

World Fusion Dance
World Fusion Dance is an eclectic blend of Middle Eastern dancing and Spanish flamenco dancing.  The class will help participants learn proper dance technique and routines.  Come join in the fun of a sensuous movement workout!

Yoga for Runners
Attention all Flying Pig participants:  This 4 week course is designed to keep runners strong and injury free during the spring training season.  In class we will work on increasing range of motion, agility, flexibility, lung capacity, endurance and strength.  This class focuses on hamstrings, quadriceps, hips, calves and feet to help keep your training sessions balanced.  By adding  yoga to your training schedule you will experience faster recovery from runs, stronger practice runs and a decrease in injury.
