Individual Advising Plan (IAP)

What is an IAP?

The Individual Advising Plan (IAP) is output from a degree audit for the student's program which will document how credit earned while on UC's quarter calendar system applies to graduation requirements for the student's program following the conversion to a semester calendar system on August 27, 2012.

An IAP for each University of Cincinnati student enrolled in a degree granting program will be generated by an advisor and then sent to the student during the 2011-2012 academic year.

More detail about the Individual Advising Plan can be found in the Semester Conversion Student Guide.

As a UC student, when I approve my Individual Advising Plan (IAP), I also acknowledge that I have read and understand the purposes and limitations of the IAP as stated in the Pledge to Students and the Semester Conversion Guide, including:
  • My IAP includes my graduation requirements, classes, advanced standing, grades and projected degree completion term.
  • My expected degree completion term will be determined by my college academic advisor, with my input and acknowledgement.
  • For the conversion “Pledge to Students” to take effect, I  must complete and approve an IAP with my academic advisor.
  • Failure to meet with my advisor and to acknowledge my IAP will mean that the university’s conversion Pledge will not apply to me.
  • If I deviate from the IAP created and approved by me and my academic advisor, the conversion Pledge to Students will not apply to me. Examples of changes not approved in the IAP that will make the pledge null and void include:
    • "Stopping out” from my studies for one or more terms
    • Changing from full-time to part-time
    • Changing my major
    • Dropping a class or prerequisite
    • Withdrawing from a class or prerequisite
    • Unsuccessful completion of a class or prerequisite
  • If my advisor is out of the office or unavailable to respond, my IAP may be routed to another advisor
  • I understand that my advisors will send me messages online via My IAP on Onestop and my official UC-provided Uconnect (@mail.uc.edu) email account.  It is my responsibility to monitor these messages and respond in an appropriate and timely manner. I acknowledge that I must use my official UC-provided Uconnect (@mail.uc.edu) email account to conduct business with UC.

By logging in to view and approve my Individual Advising Plan (IAP) I acknowledge that I have read and understand the purposes and limitations of the IAP.
