Non-student, 3rd Party Degree or Enrollment Certification Requestors

To provide a more efficient certification process, University of Cincinnati has contracted with National Student Clearinghouse to process all enrollment certification requests from both currently enrolled students and from interested third parties.  All individuals and agencies contacting the Registrar’s Office for enrollment certification will be referred to National Student Clearinghouse.

Please note, enrollment certifications for each quarter will be available starting on the first day of classes for that quarter.  They are not available prior to that first day of classes.

Enrollment Verifications for Loan Deferment Purposes

Your student loan lenders already have a relationship with the National Student Clearinghouse.

The Registrar’s Office uploads enrollment reports to the Clearinghouse four times per quarter.  The Registrar’s Office does not report enrollments before the start of the quarter.  Your lenders are then able to access that enrollment information electronically.

The student self service also allows you to:

  • View student loan deferment notifications that the Clearinghouse has provided to your loan holders; and
  • View specific information about your student loans.

In most cases, therefore, you do not also have to fill out a paper deferment request form.

If your lender still insists on the paper deferment form, please send that paperwork to the One Stop Student Service Center.

Please include a note explaining why your lender will not accept verification through the National Student Clearinghouse.  Requests not accompanied by the explanatory note will not be processed.  In such cases, the deferment form that you submitted will be returned to you by U.S. Mail with a notice for your lender to contact the Clearinghouse.

To Obtain an Enrollment Verification for Health Insurance Purposes (Procedure for Students)

Log in to Student Self Service

After log in, you will be transferred to National Student Clearinghouse’s student self-service web site.  You will not need to log in a second time.  Follow the instructions to generate your enrollment certification. If National Student Clearinghouse can confirm the enrollment, the response is immediate and you will be able to print and/or obtain a PDF version of the certification.  National Student Clearinghouse will contact the Registrar’s Office for additional information if it cannot immediately verify your enrollment.

This service is free for University of Cincinnati students.

Important Note: in their correspondence with students and/or parents, insurance providers may provide their own form for enrollment certification, instructing the parent/student that form is to be completed by the UC Registrar's Office.  For most providers, the National Student Clearinghouse certification is an acceptable alternative to the company's own form.  Students are advised to submit the National Student Clearinghouse certification.  If your insurance company does not accept this certification, contact the One Stop Student Service Center.

Please note also that students who do not have a Social Security Number on file with University of Cincinnati will not be able to obtain an enrollment certification through the National Student Clearinghouse self-service tool.  For alternate assistance, contact the UC Registrar's Office at: Registrar.Info@uc.edu

Degree Certifications (Procedure for Students)

Log in and follow the instructions.  You will be able to print a UC degree certification document in PDF format.

Allow at least three weeks to pass from the last day of the quarter before you attempt to generate your degree certification.

If you graduated before 1986, please email your degree verification request to the UC Registrar’s Office at Registrar.Info@uc.edu.

This service is free for University of Cincinnati students.
