NEW STAFF
Ann Latham, Assistant Registrar

Hi! My name is Ann Latham; however, Memorial Day weekend when I get married that will be changing to Ann Creekmore. I am the Assistant Registrar for Registration and Scheduling. If some of you knew Gail Fredensborg, the former Associate Registrar in this area, I continue to do many of her tasks. This includes most anything related to courses and classes, registration, verifications/National Student Clearinghouse, and I oversee the area of classroom scheduling.

I have been in this position since April of 2007. Before that, I was responsible for the schedule of classes in the College of Nursing, here at UC, starting in June 2005. And before that, I was a registration associate at Xavier University starting in January of 2002. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Miami University and I’m hoping to graduate this May with a Master of Arts in Humanities from Xavier University. This all means, of course, that I am very conflicted when it comes to football and basketball seasons. Go Redhawks! Go Muskies!

My area of the Registrar’s Office is currently juggling registration and planning responsibilities between three quarters: Spring, Summer, and Autumn. It can certainly be hectic, as all of you know, but both my staff and I are always available for any questions you may have. I know many of you from email and phone conversations and I hope one day to put faces with all of those names. I am located on the 5th floor of University Pavilion within the Registrar’s Office. My office phone number is 556-6817 and my email address is Ann.Latham@uc.edu.

The OBR Census Date (15th day of the term) for Spring, 2008 is Monday, April 14, 2008.  Our subsidy report to the OBR will contain only those students registered as of the close of business on that date.  Please ensure that all of your students have enrolled for their classes by the Census Date.  Official Spring statistics for internal and external use will be published by the Office of Institutional Research using the enrollments as of the Census Date.  While the report to the OBR is not created until after the quarter is over, official statistics will be published based on information in UniverSIS as of the close of business on April 14.  In order to have complete and accurate information on each student, we need to have your assistance with the following:
 *Submit all registration forms and administrative add/drops that are not processed directly by the student to our office no later than Thursday, April 10, 2008;
 *Submit flexibly scheduled/workshop registrations to our office in a timely manner and no later than April 10, 2008, unless the class has not started by that date;

   It is essential that all of these be completed by the indicated dates.  Please share this information with others in your area.  Call me at 556-5194 if you have any questions.  Our office location is University Pavilion -- 5th floor, for any documents that are delivered to us. Thank you very much for your assistance.

New Academic Disciplines
A & S has a new course discipline – 15SWAH (Swahili) in their Center for Area Studies and Programs. Existing Swahili courses formerly in the African-American Studies (15AFAM) discipline have been converted to this new discipline effective 08A.  For more information, contact the Registrar's office.

Effective Spring 2008 The College of Engineering has changed the name of the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Nuclear Engineering (MINE) to the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MECH). The following existing course disciplines are moving to this re-named department:

INDS – Industrial Engineering
MECH – Mechanical Engineering
MINE – Mechanical, Industrial and Nuclear Engineering
NUC – Nuclear Engineering

Degree Programs Database
The improved program outlines database, a UC|21-funded project, has been launched:
www.uc.edu/degreeprograms/.  This new resource, which debuted in December 2007, provides more detailed information and more robust search capabilities. Note, in particular, the ability to locate programs by interest area, keywords and program type -- without limit to specific colleges -- as well as the ability to confine a search within a specific college. The previous site links, www.uc.edu/programs/, will automatically redirect to the new site.  For more information, contact Angela Klocke, Director, Creative Services, University Relations.

New Onestop Feature
There is a new One Stop module on the front Blackboard page.  This is a box that Onestop will use for immediate announcements, special dates and deadlines.  This is another avenue to get our important information out to students.  When students login to Blackboard, they can have the option of viewing the One Stop module.  If they don’t see it right away, they can add the One Stop module by clicking on “Module Content”.  Please forward to your staff and let me know if you have any questions.  For more information contact Michelle Vezina, Web & Communications, One Stop Student Services.
