RA Candidate Presentation Specifications

1. Pick one of the following RED core values:  multiculturalism, teamwork, commitment, or community.  Discuss how that particular core value is demonstrated in the work of a great RA--one whose performance is exemplary.

2. Focus clearly on that one core value.

3.Your actual presentation should be 7 to 8 minutes in length.  This time limit will be strictly enforced.  Following your presentation, the panel will have seven to eight minutes to ask you questions.  The total time for your presentation and Q+A afterward will be 15 minutes, again, strictly enforced.

4. You may use props, posters, or handouts, etc. (i.e., "low-tech") but you may not use PowerPoint, overhead, video, etc.  Only you may make the presentation (i.e., no additional "cast members").

5. Your presentation will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
A. Following the directions and adhering to the timeframe;
B. Preparation and thoughtfulness;
C. Quality of content--degree to which the presentation reflects an understanding of the RA role, the core value and excellence as an RA;
D. Presenting/public speaking effectiveness and poise;
E. Quality and appropriateness of any visuals, handouts, or props;
F. Creativity; and
G. Your ability to answer questions effectively.

6. If you have any questions, please contact committee chair Maggy Fogler at 556-6476 or margaret.fogler@uc.edu
