Resident Advisors (RAs)
Resident Advisor (RA): The RA is the peer leader of each residence hall floor or unit. RAs are selected for their maturity, concern for and ability to work with others, leadership, and ability to serve as a role model to other students. They are there to provide resource information, a listening ear, encouragement, and an example for others. They also lead in the organizing of social and educational programs and enforce residence hall policies. Prospective RAs must complete an eight-week preparatory class even to be considered for the position, they undergo in-depth training at the start of each school year, and there is periodic training throughout the year. In return for their service, RAs receive a scholarship for their room and board costs and a starting salary of $80/mo., provided in a bi-weekly pay of approximately $37.05.
RAs for the 2009-2010 school year have been selected. The selection process for 2010-2011 is expected to begin in late Fall Quarter 2009. Application and selection process information will be updated here when appropriate.
