Assistant residence coordinators (ARCs) are graduate students who help the Residence Coordinator (RC) with residence hall programs, services and other operations within the building. If the RC is not available, the ARC is trained to handle emergencies and make appropriate referrals.
ARCs meet with students as necessary to help with student concerns and to implement portions of the halls’ judicial process. Typically, ARCs have responsibility for managing the staff of the front desk or advising the hall government. ARCs are also partners in the supervision of RAs, with the support of the RC.
Get to know the ARC for your hall. S/he is a good resource for resolving issues and helping you adjust to the university. Like the RC, you may reach the ARC through the front desk. ARC office hours are posted or available from the public inquiries assistant (PIA) of each hall.
