Information on Registered Sex Offenders

The 1998 amendments to the Higher Education Act of 1965 require universities to issue a statement advising the campus community where law enforcement information, provided by a state under section 170101(J) of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (42 U.S.C. 14071(J), of registered sex offenders may be obtained.

Sexual offenders are required to notify the sheriff of the county in which they will reside as provided by Section 2950.04 of the Ohio Revised Code. In Ohio, the Sex Offender Registry is maintained by the county sheriff’s office.
