Student Organizations
Welcome Bearcats!
The area you are now viewing is a definitive guide to the promotion, organization, and development of your student organization!
The office of Student Activities and Leadership Development supports the mission of the University of Cincinnati by promoting and guiding purposeful student engagement, fostering a sense of community, providing opportunities of student growth and leadership development. We aspire to create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and enhances our students’ ability to become global citizens. We’re proud to represent UC’s vast assortment of diverse student organizations!
Our hope is that your involvement with any of our 250 officially recognized student organizations at the University of Cincinnati will make the campus feel a bit smaller. Involvement in student organizations joins together individuals with similar views and opinions, which creates an opportunity for developing new ideas, discovering hidden talents, cultivating interpersonal skills, and providing a way to accomplish collectively what could not be done individually.

Starting a New Student Organization
If you are interested in forming a new organization, a registration form is online, under student group registration login, which can be found to the right. The criteria for starting a new organization includes the following:
-
The organization must fulfill a need for students not currently being met by an existing organization on campus.
-
A Constitution and Bylaws consistent with University policies must be formally submitted. Here is a sample constitution and bylaws (Adobe Acrobat).
-
An Online registration application must be completed with the group officers and advisor's university id number at the following link https://www.uc.edu/sald/studentlogin.aspx. In addition, new student organizations must submit a constitution and bylaw as well as a membership roster.
-
All new student groups must have a roster that includes (10) current University of Cincinnati Students.
-
Must have a University advisor who is a member of the University faculty, staff, or administration
-
What is the timeline for recognition?
The length of the process is not definite and is dependent upon submission of completed registration form, membership roster, and a constitution and by-laws that have no errors. The average time of the approval process is approximately 2-3 weeks depending on what is submitted for review. If you are applying for funding, make sure the constitution and by-laws reflect that membership is open to all students and there is no charge for membership dues.
-
New student group applications can be submitted during the academic year beginning with the 4th Thursday of September and ending on May 1 of the same academic year.
