Student Impact Symposium

Student Impact Symposium

Monday April 3, 2017

Poster Exhbition: 12 p.m.-2:00 p.m.   TUC Atrium

Awards & Recogntion: 2:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.   TUC Great Hall

The Student Impact Symposium is intended to provide our exemplary student groups/individuals with a platform to showcase their impact outside of the classroom. UC students demonstrate their passion, learning, and innovation through purposeful action/project completion every year. This year we want to capture that in a symposium which allows students to share their accomplishments with the UC community, but also potential employers, staff, and family.

All community members are invited to attend the inaugural Student Impact Symposium! Engage with students as they showcase their impact outside of the classroom through projects and actionable ideas. Drop in during the poster exhibition and/or join us for presentations and awards.

Each impact piece identifies with at least one of SALD's values: diversity, integrity, growth, leadership, and community.

Participation:

Applications were received and reveiwed by the SALD team in early March. All accepted participants will have a poster presentation about their impact piece guided by Rolfe et al's reflective model: What? So what? Now what? Selected participants will also formally present their impact piece to a community audience and the event will conclude with recognition and awards.

Reflection Process

Poster Exhbition

Posters are developed using the Symposium Poster Reflection Process to challenge students to think through the process and implications of their impact. The posters will aid participants in communicating their impact piece to an audience of peers, community members, faculty/staff, and potential employers.

Awards & Recognition

Select impact pieces and awards will be presented to a formal audience. UC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend. Prizes will be awarded to high acheiving student organization and individual impact pieces. Impact pieces will be judged during the Poster Exhibition on the following criteria: display and creativity, innovation, learning, application, and future implications/impact to the community.
