Annie Fitzgerald was a UC student who first
approached the university about creating an
ongoing university-wide partnership with
Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity to literally build
on UC’s commitment to the community in the
neighborhoods surrounding campus.

The Annie Fitzgerald Award is awarded yearly to three University of Cincinnati undergraduate students who possess a deep passion for community engagement. Students must be interested or currently participating in community service, serving learning or other areas of engagement in their community.

Award Amount

- $2,000- One 1st place winner
- $1,000- Two 2nd place winners

Student Requirements/Eligibility

- Enrolled at the University of Cincinnati (full-time)
- Undergraduates only
- All majors are encouraged to apply
- Scholarship will be awarded based on student’s involvement or interest in a service learning project

Application Process 
Please submit the following to the Center for Community Engagement: 

- Essay: Write an essay no more than 1000 words about your community involvement this year.  Consider the following questions:
     -Why is it important to volunteer or give back to your community?
     -What made you interested in community service and/or service learning?
     -What does your community means to you?
     -Have you showed leadership or initiative in a service project or organization? 

- Two letters of recommendation or reference   
- Resume     

Email or drop off your application at the Center for Community Engagement by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010.
