With your help, Bridges for a Just Community was able to support 1,200 total walkers and raise over $150, 000 for programs that work for inclusion, equality, and justice. Thank you, UC! BRIDGES FOR A JUST COMMUNITY
BRIDGES for a Just Community, formerly the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) of Greater Cincinnati, brings people together to achieve inclusion, equity and justice for all who live and work in the Greater Cincinnati community. BRIDGES has been our region’s leading human relations organization since 1944 and recently co-founded the National Federation for Just Communities, a new national organization providing education and advocacy to more than 20 member organizations around the country.
In order to broaden support and awareness of our important work, NCCJ decided to launch the Walk As One Walk-A-Thon in select regions across the country.
BRIDGES has been working to improve race relations in Cincinnati since 1944. In light of this mission, BRIDGES (then NCCJ) founded the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in 1994. Although the Freedom Center is now incorporated as a separate non-profit organization, BRIDGES and the Freedom Center maintain a valuable partnership and continue to work together to encourage racial reconciliation.
In keeping with our partnership, BRIDGES for a Just Community is again sharing the proceeds of Walk As One with the Freedom Center to be used for educational programs. The remaining proceeds will benefit BRIDGE'ss Youth and Community Leadership Programs, building excellent human relations programs for children and adults so that they can learn from one another and break down the barriers that divide us.
