Psychological First Aid (PFA)
The Counseling Center offers training in Psychological First Aid to faculty, staff, students at UC, and others in the community who may be interested in offering this type of assistance. Dr. Carol Yoken, the Center's Director, and Dr. Craig Vickio (Clinical Psychologist, Bowling Green State University) have developed a Train-the-Trainer workshop to help other counseling centers learn the model and offer training on their campuses. The Ohio Department of Mental Health played a leading role in organizing the project through its University Linkages Committee, including the revision of a national PFA provider manual for use at colleges and universities and piloting of the Train-the-Trainer workshop in Columbus in 2009. The Ohio Board of Regents co-sponsored the pilot workshop. Qualified parties may use the workshop materials with appropriate credit to the authors.
