University of Cincinnati

About Us

The Office of Ethnic Programs & Services supports the mission of the University of Cincinnati by enhancing the growth and development of students of color and addressing the academic, social, spiritual and cultural needs of the campus community. The professional staff has a strong commitment to ensuring that all members of the University are creating and promoting a just community.

EPS challenges systematic forms of oppression which historically have inhibited the personal development of individuals who have attended predominantly white colleges and universities. EPS embraces the ever-increasing diversity of our student body and University work force and encourages all members of the University community to become more enlightened about the student of color community. The Office aspires for quality in all it's programs and services and is committed to meeting the educational and service needs of students of color and other members of the University community. EPS values each contact and interaction with members of the University community and visitors as an opportunity to encourage positive relationships, growth and development.

Advising and active support for students is a major service in the Office Of Ethnic Programs & Services. It is the goal of the office to listen and assist students as it relates to any aspect of their experience here at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, the office works in collaboration with other offices to assist student needs and make the University environment inclusive for all. We believe that all young men and women of color are entitled to a quality collegiate experience. The University Of Cincinnati Darwin T Turner Scholars Program addresses this need by recruiting, supporting and graduating academically talented students of color. Students are awarded full or partial scholarships to pursue an education in their field of interest.

As part of the educational role, EPS sponsors programs which promote awareness and represent students of color at the University Of Cincinnati. Major programs such as the Asian Student Welcome, the Latino Students Welcome, and A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King provide students with opportunities to hear eminent guest speakers and develop skills that will enhance them personally and professionally. EPS in conjunction with the Student Affairs Development Office continues to raise funds for the Darwin T. Turner Scholarship Program. The professional staff at EPS has a strong commitment to enhancing the University community for students of color.
