Worldfest Presents: Having a Heart for Haiti – Wednesday, April 30th
Come to the AACRC at 4:00pm on April 30th for a discussion with Nathan A. Perry Sr. about his journey through the flood ravished impoverished city of Gonna I’ve, Haiti. During his journey, Mr. Perry encountered a nation of people that would leave an lasting mark on him; so much so that he has devoted his life to combating the wanting efforts of reconstruction in one of the poorest countries in the world. His story will inspire you to think globally.
Nathan A. Perry, Sr. and his wife Eiko Perry have quietly lived in the West Chester Community for fourteen years with their five children and now their seven grandchildren. Most people will not know them but members of their congregation at Refreshing Springs Church on LeSourdsville West Chester Road are well acquainted with Pastor Perry’s inspirational messages of salvation, love, hope, healthy relationships and community involvement.
Nathan’s community involvement is showed in various cities, states and countries. He has led several missionary trips to Haiti, which is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, to share messages of love and hope, distribute food and clothing to the poor, teach English as a second language and to build an orphanage. The most challenging and rewarding time was in 2004 when Haiti was hit with a massive hurricane. The group recovered people from horrific situations and provided the mere basics of life. This event had a profound impact on his life and the ones around him. Last year’s trip was particular rewarding as his sixteen year old son, Anthony, a student at Lakota East High School witnessed Haiti first hand and came home with a new appreciation for life in the United States.
In 2002, Nathan retired as a finance and accounting executive from the Procter & Gamble Company after 26 years of services. He serves on the board of directors for several profit and not-for-profit organizations.
