Mission Statement


The mission of Student Affairs and Services is to enroll students with diverse backgrounds and abilities and to assist them to reach their full potential. The Division works in partnership with faculty, staff, and the surrounding community to enhance student learning inside and outside the classroom. Together, we place students’ needs first, while making UC a more caring and just community.

Student Affairs and Services Goals

UC|21 GOAL 1: PLACE STUDENTS AT THE CENTER

Work collaboratively to enhance the retention and graduation of all students. Our priority is to increase student affairs/academic affairs/administrative and business services linkages.

Build a sense of community within our University by promoting a common set of university ideals and values as articulated in the Statement of Commitment for a Just Community. Our priority is to promote and support diversity and to integrate university values.

Assess student attitudes and behaviors and educate the campus community on the impact of our services and programs on students.

Manage and utilize university resources to implement the goals and strategic priorities of the Division. Our priority is to transform the division through innovation and quality in service delivery.

Assist in bringing the MainStreet ideal to life as a 24/7, vibrant environment, increasing student involvement and engagement. Our priority is to implement the final phase of MainStreet to continue improvements in the quality of student life.

UC|21 GOAL 3: ACHIEVE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Recruit and enroll a diverse group of students who benefit from and contribute to the University. Our priority is to meet enrollment and retention goals of 50 in 5 .

UC|21 GOAL 4: FORGE KEY RELATIONSHIPS AND PARTNERSHIPS

Promote student involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities that lead to greater civic engagement and responsibility. Our priority is to promote greater civic engagement and responsibility.

UC|21 GOAL 5: ESTABLISH A SENSE OF “PLACE”

Enhance the quality of campus life by putting students first – assessing student and community needs and providing a broad range of programs and services that meet those needs. Our priority is to further develop and implement the Students First Initiative.

Utilize technology to enhance programming, services, and learning within and beyond the boundaries of the campus. Our priority is to expand the use of technology and information systems.

UC|21 GOAL 6: CREATE OPPORTUNITY

Promote the development of a learning environment in cooperation with faculty and staff that enhances the professional development and education of students inside and outside the classroom.
