Additional Information

 Academic Honesty and Online Tests
University of Cincinnati holds you to a very high standard for academic honesty.  You must take all your placement tests without any assistance and according to the instructions provided.  By taking the tests, you have agreed to the above conditions.  Individuals found to have violated this honor code will be sanctioned by the university.  The highest penalty is academic dismissal.

Academic Integrity
The University of Cincinnati has launched an ongoing Academic Integrity Campaign to educate students regarding academic integrity.  The campaign emphasizes that character counts and integrity is important to academic excellence.  Academic integrity provides the foundation upon which a flourishing academic life rests.  It requires honesty.  Academic dishonesty diminishes the University of Cincinnati as an institution and all members of the University community.  For these reasons and more, academic integrity is an essential part of any true educational experience.

As new students to the University of Cincinnati, you are responsible for upholding the highest standards of honesty at all times, as well as adhering to the principles and spirit of the Academic Integrity Campaign.  We ask that you acknowledge and honor your responsibilities while completing all placement tests regardless of location.

University Honors Program Students
University Honors students are required to select and attend a Bearcat Bound Orientation session offered in June or July in order to participate in the University Honors Orientation.  The University Honors Orientation is offered in the morning of Day One starting at 10:00 a.m. in June and July (the University Honors Orientation may not be offered in August).    The program begins at 10:00 a.m. and check-in will be from 8:45-9:45 a.m. on the 3rd floor of University Pavilion.  Honors students are expected to complete all placements tests prior to Bearcat Bound Orientation.  Placement tests may be taken online from anywhere with an internet connection.  Please note the specific dates for the English essay and the math placement test.  If you attended the Cincinnatus Scholarship Competition and you completed the Cincinnatus essay, you will not be required to write another English placement essay.  Your Cincinnatus essay will be used to determine your initial English course placement.  You are exempt from writing the English Placement essay if you score 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement (AP) English Language and Composition or English Literature and Composition exam or if you have a grade of ‘C’ or higher in a PSEOP English Composition class. Other AP/PSEOP credits will be evaluated at a later time. Please bring all available transcripts with you when you come to Bearcat Bound Orientation to give to your advisor. See section on Placement Testing for additional information. The web address for the University Honors Program is www.honors.uc.edu.

Advanced Placement (AP) and Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Program (PSEOP)
You are exempt from taking the English Placement essay, if you have a score of 3 or higher on your Advanced Placement (AP) English Language & Composition or English Literature & Composition exam or if you have a "C" or higher in PSEOP English Composition class.  Other AP/PSEOP credit will be evaluated at a later time.  Please bring all available transcripts with you when you come to Bearcat Bound Orientation.  If you do not have your AP score for English, you are required to take the placement essay.

Cincinnatus Scholarship
If you attended the Cincinnatus Scholarship Competition in February and you completed the Cincinnatus essay, you will not be required to write another English placement essay.  Your Cincinnatus essay will be used in place of the English placement essay to determine your initial English course placement.  Eligible high school seniors who submitted a completed UC admissions application by the December 15, 2008 deadline were invited to the Cincinnatus Competition.
