The Math Placement Test
You may take this test online from anywhere with internet access.   The math placement test is accessed through Blackboard.  In order to be able to take the test, you will need to activate your Blackboard account.  Your Central Login Username and password are also your Blackboard username and password.  If you already have that information you can go directly to the Blackboard site at http://blackboard.uc.edu.  After reading through this information, please go to Getting Started and activate your account if you have not done so already.

Calculators are not permitted in this test.  The placement test is timed for 50 minutes and is entirely multiple-choice questions with only one correct answer. It will be tailored to match your level of proficiency.  The questions are from the areas of pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-calculus.  This placement test is used to identify the math course that best matches your current mathematical skill.  Your math placement test results will be compared to your SAT or ACT math score; should there be a significant discrepancy you will be retested under proctored conditions.   All the scores will become part of your academic file.  Please remember placement tests are used to place you in the correct beginning course.  You will not be successful if you are placed in a course for which you are not academically ready. 1. The first letter of your last name determines when you will be able to take the math placement test.   You may start the test as early as you wish on the first date. 
   If you miss you session due to extenuating circumstances you will need to wait until the "Messed Test Session" dates for your letter to take you math placement test.  Please keep in mind that it is not ideal to miss your session as this may delay your scores getting reported and prevent you from registering for classes at your orientation.

   If you missed the "Missed Test Session" dates, please call the Orientation Office immediately at (513) 556-2486.
   
2. To begin the math placement test, click on "Start" below and follow the directions.  On the right under "My Organizations" you will see "Math Placement."  Click on it.  You will see the organization menu on the left.  You are encouraged to use the links to familiarize yourself with the topics covered in the test and other helpful information.  Sample tests are also available to you in preparation for the test.  Once you are ready to take the test, simply click the "Placement Test" link at the top of the screen.  Remember the test is timed and you will be allowed 50 minutes to complete it. Do not use a calculator of any kind on this placement test.  You may use scratch paper and pencil or pen to work out your answers.
