Congratulations on your admittance to the University of Cincinnati!  We warmly welcome you to our academic community.  Your next important step is to register for Orientation.  All new students are required to attend an orientation program before their first quarter of classes.  

When you attend Orientation, you will receive the information and materials you need to prepare you for your new life at UC.  In addition, at Orientation, you will complete your placement testing, meet with an advisor from your college and register for your classes.  Please keep in mind that until you attend your Orientation you will be blocked from registering for classes. 

Placement Testing
You are required to take placement tests in the areas of math, English and foreign language before you can take classes in those subjects.  Your advisor will use your test results to assist in placing you in the correct classes.  There will be opportunity to complete some placement testing at orientation.  Please note that calculators are not permitted on the math placement test.   Practice math test questions are online at: http://math.uc.edu/course/placement/questions.html

Check-in time and location
Check in time is between 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.  The check-in desk is located on the 3rd floor, University Pavilion.  The program and placement testing will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.  You should plan to be here until 4:00 p.m.

Parent sessions
There will not be a Parents orientation program.  Therefore, parents will not need to attend.

Registering for Orientation
You will receive a packet of information regarding orientation from the New Student Orientation Office.  You may register for orientation in one of the following ways:

• By Mail:  Simply complete the reservation form in the packet and mail it back to us in the self-addressed envelope along with the $45.00 orientation fee.  
  
• By Phone: Call Orientation at (513) 556-2486 and ask one of our student workers to register you for orientation.  You may pay by credit card on the phone, or bring the payment with you when you come to Orientation.

You will receive a courtesy confirmation card, reminder phone call or email (through your Bearcat Online Email account) shortly before your orientation date. 

Orientation Fee
There is a $45.00 fee for the Orientation program.  The fee is applied toward the cost of parking, lunch, the Bearcat Bound binder as well as other expenses.  You may make payment at the check-in desk on the day of your orientation or if time allows you may mail your payment with your registration form.   Payment may be made by check, money order or by completing the credit/debit card portion on the reservation form. Please write the name and  UCID number (number beginning with an M on your registration form) on the face of the check or money order for proper credit to the right account. Make check or money order payable to the “University of Cincinnati”. 

What to Bring
Bring the following items with you when you come for orientation:

• A photo I.D.
• Your social security number
• Two sharpened no. 2 pencils, a pen and a notebook
• AP or PSEOP transcripts, if you have participated in these programs
• Year, make, model and license plate number, of your vehicle if you plan to purchase a parking decal for one of the campus garages for your vehicle.
