Online New Transfer Student Orientation

All new transfer students to the University of Cincinnati are to complete the required modules of the Online New Transfer Student Orientation.  We have developed an online orientation that covers the basics you will need to be successful and will complement your academic advising and registration information that you will receive from your college.

Your New Transfer Student Orientation will remain available to you for the entire academic year.  You can review any of this information at any time during your first year at UC.  There are also optional modules that you may review if these are important to you.

Three Steps to Orientation, Academic Advising, and Registration

Step 1: Take the Online New Transfer Student Orientation

You need to complete all the required modules plus the module for your college.  The online orientation is delivered through an interactive program called BlackBoard.  There are directions below that will describe how to access Blackboard and get you started on the online orientation.  The online orientation itself should take from 45 to 60 minutes to complete.

Step 2: Register for Academic Advising and Registration

Each UC college does transfer advising and registration differently.  Some colleges will invite you in for a one-on-one advising session.  Other colleges invite students in for group sessions.  There is specific information in the online orientation on how you should proceed for advising and registration.  If you have already received academic advising and have registered for classes, then you will only need to complete the Online New Transfer Student Orientation.

Step 3: Attend you Academic Advising Session and Register for Classes

Your initial academic advising session is critically important.  During this session, you will learn:

  • about specific college policies and procedures
  • general education and major course requirements
  • how your previously earned credit will transfer and meet UC requirements

After your advising session you may go online to the One Stop site and register for classes.  You learn how to do that in the online orientation session.
