News from the UC Parents Association
Hello UC parents and family members!  With spring quarter approaching we’re certain that your family is excited about warmer weather – not to mention everything else that the season has to offer.  April 24-26 is Dad’s Weekend at UC.  Events include Friday night food and fun in the Catskeller Game Room and Sports Lounge, the Cincinnati Reds vs. the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, and our second annual Golf Scramble and Grill-out on Sunday! Spotlight: Spring Break
As your student completes their exams and turns in final projects or papers, they are surely looking forward to the plans they have made for spring break.  Weather your student is staying in Cincinnati, traveling the globe, or staying with you to enjoy fine dining and high school friends, safety should be a priority.  If you student is traveling abroad, please go to http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/safety/safety_2836.html for some safety information from the U.S. Department of State.
Many UC students elect to take alternative spring break trips.  Such trips are sponsored by groups such as the University Honors Program, UC International, and Campus Ministries.  These trips range from building schools in Mexico, to serving the homeless in Florida, and constructing a water pumping system in Kenya.  More information about alternative spring break trips at UC is available at http://www.uc.edu/news/NR.aspx?id=9711

Many students, faculty, and staff of the University of Cincinnati have taken advantage of UC's contract with Metro enabling them to ride to and from the University at no cost.  The contract has been extended, but modified:  For spring quarter, students will pay $10 for a UC*Metro card. Faculty and staff will pay $50.  For summer quarter, students will pay $15 for a UC*Metro card. Faculty and staff will pay $60. For more information go to http://www.uc.edu/News/NR.aspx?ID=9704
