News from the UCPA:

UC students are back on campus and the weather is wonderful!  I hope that new students are becoming acquainted with campus and returning students are settling into their new schedules!

The UCPA/DuBois Bookstore FREE Books Essay Contest was extremely successful this year – with more essays submitted than ever before!  We thank everyone for participating and encourage you to ask your students’ to show you their essays.  The essays made us laugh, cry, and in many cases, left us speechless!  These amazing essays have shown us just how lucky our students are to have the continued support of their parents and family members.  Look for excerpts from some of the essays to be posted on our website soon.

An email was sent a few weeks ago to inform you that UCPA members are eligible for discounted Bearcat Football tickets.  All of the games are available for $20 with the exception of Louisville (these tickets are $30). Additionally, the tickets for UCPA members have sold out for the West Virginia game. For more information about UCPA Athletic Ticket Discounts, CLICK HERE. 

Spotlight on: Parents Weekend

Parents Weekend, scheduled for November 6-8, is in its final planning stages.  Friday will include open houses and activities held in some of the offices and colleges on campus.  Continue to check the Parents Weekend page to see new events added by your student’s college.  Please note that some of the college events require an RSVP.

Saturday we have a UCPA Tailgate Party, catered by City Barbeque (yum!) and the Football game vs. UCONN!  Tickets for this event will be sold in packages which include the Tailgate Party and Football Game.  If you have already purchased tickets for the game, tickets to the Tailgate Party only will be available. Sunday we invite you to join us for a Riverboat Lunch Cruise on the Ohio River.  Students are required to have a ticket to all of our events.  Remember that UCPA Members will save significantly on all of our UCPA ticketed events on Parents Weekend.  Tickets for Parents Weekend are on sale now and more details about Parents Weekend will continue to be released. 

It has come to my attention that the Kingsgate Marriott has been sold out for Parents Weekend.  Visit http://www.uc.edu/visitors/ for information about alternative lodging in Cincinnati.
