the UC Parents Association

Parents! This past month has been
extremely busy as the UC parents Association.
Orientation has come to an end and all of our new members and parent
participants have been entered into our system!
So, welcome to new parents and family members! Please remember that essays for the
UCPA/DuBois Bookstore FREE BOOK Essay Contest are due this Friday, August
28. It’s not too late for your student
to submit an essay; at this point we have received only 5 essays! Remember, students are only eligible to
participate if their parents/family members are UCPA members. For more details about the essay contest,

I hope that
you have all already marked your calendars for Parents Weekend 2009, November 6
– 8. The Kingsgate Marriott is offering

welcome our new parents and hope that new students and families as well as
returning students and families find a home at the University of Cincinnati.
Spotlight on: Welcome Back
UC!
Students have their classes
scheduled, their housing arranged, and, in many cases, their bags packed! It’s almost time for classes to start and the
campus is already buzzing with excitement.
Maybe it’s that our freshmen class is the largest ever, with 4,300 –
4,400 new students on the Uptown
Campus alone! That’s about a ten percent
increase from last year! Not to mention,
The Princeton Review ranked the University
of Cincinnati among the
nation’s best undergraduate institutions for the third consecutive year (http://www.uc.edu/news/NR.aspx?id=10453)!
Welcome Week is September
20 – 26 and is packed with events for new and returning students. New Student Convocation is September 20 at
2:00 pm at Fifth Third Arena.
Convocation is the freshmen induction ceremony at which we welcome new
students as well as their families and friends onto campus. Incoming freshman are required to attend the
ceremony. Incoming freshmen will also
join their colleges on September 22 for College Day. Bearcat Football also
begins on Saturday, September 26 when we host Fresno State
at Nippert Stadium, kickoff time is 12:00 pm. Bearcat Football fans are often encouraged to wear a specific color for specific games. The September 26 game vs. Fresno State is a "Whiteout Game," so fans are encouraged to wear white. More
