State Science Day
STEM Students Seek Governor’s Awards
from The Ohio Academy of Science
(Columbus, March 2, 2007)…Starting tomorrow at Ohio University, Athens, and continuing each Saturday through March 24, several thousand aspiring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students from more than 300 schools will exhibit their inquiry-based research projects at district science days hosted by 16 colleges and universities. The goal for many students will be to earn a slot at State Science Day on May 12 at The Ohio State University where more than $1.7 million in scholarships will be awarded.
Representatives of The Ohio Academy of Science and state agencies will present Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Student Research in agriculture and food science, biotechnology, energy, environmental sciences, information science and technology, manufacturing science, materials science, recycling and litter prevention, and water resources.
More than $1.7 million in college scholarships and awards will be presented at State Science Day, an event that attracts 1,200 STEM students and is sponsored by The Ohio Academy of Science, AEP Ohio, The Ohio Environmental Education Fund and Boehringer Ingelheim Roxane, Inc.
