BearCAT, or Community Action Team, was created by students to develop strategies to promote communication, relationships, cooperation, and community connectedness among all members of the Clifton Community.
Mission Statement: To engage UC students and faculty to make a positive impact in the communities that directly surround the University of Cincinnati.
Vision: The vision of BearCAT is the student contribution to build on UC's Just Community initiative and the guiding principles of UC|21.
The BearCAT Ambassadors are student leaders who took the initiative to lead the Clifton community and UC students towards the goals of BearCAT. The Ambassadors include Kaitlin Keegan, Jon Lloyd, Daniel Larsen, JR Curry, Patrick Carr, Melissa Ozarzak, and Jason Waller. Also serving BearCAT on behalf of Student Government are Jeremy Driscoll, Jerry Tsai, Brian Rapien, and Sam Walston. The UC Administration is getting involved with this initiative as well through the leadership of Daniel Cummins, Director of Judicial Affairs in the Office of Judicial Affairs at UC.
These Ambassadors can be reached via email at bearcatambassadors@gmail.com with questions, concerns, ideas, suggestion, etc, regarding BearCAT and Clifton community issues.
BearCAT hosted a community event on October 8, called Clifton Clean-up. Ambassadors and volunteers met in front of Hughes Center on the morning of the 8 th to form teams and clean up the streets on the southern side of Clifton. By the end of the session, volunteers cleaned up eight blocks of the south side neighborhood! A free cookout for the community followed at the Hughes Center. Another clean up and cookout is being planned by BearCAT members, and the date will be released in the near future.
