About Showcase
The University of Cincinnati’s Showcase 2008 is set to run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2008, in Tangeman University Center.
Showcase is a service to the region’s business community. In one place at one time, it offers a look at the best of UC’s first-rate research with proven commercialization success or great partnership potential.
Over 100 exhibits and demonstrations of emerging technologies and research will be on hand – along with the researchers behind these cutting-edge efforts.
Areas of focus are:
• Causes and cures: Discoveries in heart health, metabolic diseases and cancer.
• Drugs and devices: The next generation of therapeutic solutions.
• Energy and environment: Sustainable engineering, advanced fuels and better uses for scarce resources.
• Imaging and sensing: Picture-perfect visualization tools combined with unusual applications.
• Next big things in nano: UC is being courted by national and international business for its nanotechnology applications in science, engineering and medicine.
• Products and design: Transformational and new applications to old problems.
• Vibrant community: Bettering the urban fabric via housing, development and medical outreach.
UC is ranked among the top 25 public research universities in the United States, earning more than $330 million annually in research support. With nationally and internationally ranked programs in design, engineering and medicine, it is the only institution in Ohio (and one of one of a handful in the nation and the world) named as a PACE (Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education) university. Last year, that designation earned UC more than $420-million in advanced hardware and software from a select consortium on international firms.
