Dr. Cathy Kerr, MSW LISW

Cathy Kerr PhD, MSW LISW, is a Visiting Professor – Field Service Faculty and Coordinator of the Specialized Mental Health Program. Ms. Kerr began her work with the School of Social Work in 1990, and has, in addition to her position as Coordinator for the Specialized Mental Health Program, taught a variety of direct practice and core social work courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, specializing in teaching advanced mental health courses. She also develops and serves as liaison for student internships.
Ms. Kerr has worked as a clinical social worker in both public and private settings and has operated a private practice for over 20 years. Currently she is a doctoral fellow at the Smith College School of Social Work where her research is focused on the provision of gender-responsive treatment services to women with co-occurring substance dependence and mental health issues who are also involved with the criminal justice system. Her areas of interest include clinical social work, mental health, serious mental illness and recovery, and women’s studies.
