Sophia F. Dziegielewski is a Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati (UC). She is also the Editor of the Journal of Social Service Research. Educational qualifications include her MSW and Ph.D. in Social Work from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. Dr. Dziegielewski is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio. Prior to arriving at UC she was Chairperson for the University of Central Florida Human Subjects Review Board, where she presided over all human subjects research at this large (43, 000 students) metropolitan university. In addition to her duties as Dean (2004-2008) of the School of Social Work at UC, she also served as Chair of the UC IRB, Behavioral Science Review Board in 2006 and was a board member until 2008. In the national magazine "Social Worker Today" (2003) a feature story about Dr. Dziegielewski referred to her as a "legend" in her field. She is the recipient of numerous awards, and supports her research and practice activity with over 119 publications, including 7 textbooks, 79 articles, numerous book chapters and over 400 workshops and community presentations.
Throughout her academic, administrative and practice career she has been active in research and the protection of human subjects specializing in the area of health and mental health. She has also been active in clinical practice maintaining a current license in her field as well as serving as an expert witness in the courts.
