Bachelor of Social Work Program
Admission Requirements
The BSW is a two-year program, which you can begin after you complete two years (90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university. Find out more about admissions requirements.
For complete application procedures, see Steps to Apply.
Curriculum Requirements
To earn the BSW degree, you must complete 90 quarter credit hours of classroom and field instruction. These hours include:
- 54 hours of required social work courses,
- 6 hours of social work electives, and
- 30 hours of free electives.
Your first year in the program is spent primarily in classroom instruction, where you learn the skills you need to work in the field. In your second year, you get the chance to apply that knowledge through field instruction in a social service agency.
In some cases, the college credits you earned before you started the BSW program may be counted toward your degree. Find out more about this advanced standing policy.
