Admission to the Bachelor of Social Work Program

New requirements for admission to the BSW Program for Autumn Quarter 2010

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is a two-year upper division program. You can begin work in this program only after you have completed the equivalent of two years of college work.

Specifically, you must:

1. have 90 quarter credits (60 semester credits) from an accredited institution;
2. be in good standing with the college from which you transfer;
3. have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; and
4. have completed the following college courses or equivalents:

English Composition	one year	8-9
Literature	one course	3-4
Math	one college level math course and one introductory statistics course; or two statistics courses	6-8
Science	one year of physical science; must include at least one course in biology	8–9
Foreign Language	two year sequence	15-18
Psychology*	one year of introductory courses	8-9
Sociology*	two introductory courses	6-8
US History	two introductory courses	6-8
Political Science	one course	3-4
Economics	one course	3-4
Fine Arts	one course	3-4

*At least one course must have been completed within the past 10 years

1. New students are admitted to the program at the beginning of each autumn quarter. To be admitted in a different quarter, you must have the approval of the Associate Director or the Director of the School.
