Goal Attainment
At the University of Cincinnati, we constantly measure our students’ progress and assess how effectively our many programs are helping students succeed—both on campus and beyond. We are proud to note the following:
- 84% of students entering UC in 2007 returned for their sophomore year. Our retention of students from year to year has steadily increased since 2000.
- 55% of students graduate within six years of matriculating at the university. This rate has also been steadily increasing in the recent past.
- The number of new transfer students has increased 45% from 2003 to 2008. Also, 67% of transfer students are returning for their second year.
- UC’s incoming class of 2008 had an average ACT comprehensive score of 24.8—an all-time high for UC. The quality of students choosing to attend UC is going up.

Students also successfully move on to satisfying careers or decide to further their education:
- Of the students who earned a baccalaureate degree in the 2003-2004 academic year 37% have a job upon graduation and 50% plan to further their education.
- Of the students who earned an associate degree in the 2003-2004 academic year 50% have a job upon graduation and 55% plan to further their education.
UC also participates in the National Survey of Student Engagement, which allows us to receive valuable feedback from our students about their experience at UC.
