The following strategic goals and objectives will drive the implementation of the University of Cincinnati retention vision.

To provide financial assistance to students in the form of general tuition stabilization and emergency aid
.

Utilize Success Challenge Grant funds to stabilize tuition increases below the state-wide cap.

Develop a pilot program to provide emergency funding for students with extraordinary financial circumstances.

To provide consistent and focused first year experiences for all students.

·
Create a coordinated Orientation Placement Testing Program.
·
Create a First Year Experience course in each college.
·
Create a publication that includes University and college-specific information that will carry the student through the freshman year and will act as a textbook for the First Year Experience course.

To provide for seamless transitions for students from one major to another, whether in one college or between colleges through improved advising and counseling.

Create a centrally administered advising system that is locally placed in the colleges to provide services to undecided students, "pre-" students, and transition students. Provide additional psychological services to University students.

To provide support for the development and implementation of new learning opportunities.

Provide a lead faculty member to assist with curricular development.
·
Provide administrative support to handle scheduling, logistical issues.

To provide support for retention initiatives developed by colleges or individual faculty and/or staff.

·
Utilize Success Challenge Grant funds to support the development of individual college retention programs tailored to meet their students' unique needs.
·
Utilize Success Challenge Grant funds to develop engagement of faculty and/or staff with students through collaboration and cooperation to break down the impersonal nature of the research university.

To provide technology support for retention activities.

·
Ensure the necessary technology support for the retention programs and initiatives established in this proposal.

To provide research, assessment, and evaluation support that will track progress in meeting institutional retention and graduation goals.

Establish flexible funding for adequate assessment of the effectiveness of the Success Challenge Grant initiative and to undertake retention research.

 

 
  HIGHLIGHT
Major fair, an event helping students decide theire majors, is funded by Success Challenge Grant.
