What is the GRE?
The Graduate Record Exam is a test often required for admission to graduate institutions. Check with the departments to which you are applying in order to determine if you should take the GRE.
When is that test given?
We offer the GRE Monday-Friday, with appointments available in the morning, afternoon, and some evenings. If you would like to register for a time to take the GRE, please contact our office at 513-556-7173 or register online at http://www.ets.org/gre.
How long in advance must I register?
There is not a register-by date for the GRE. However, seats for the test can fill up quickly. You should try to register at least two weeks ahead of your desired appointment time.
How much does the GRE cost?
The fee for the test is $185.00, paid at the time of registration. If you register over the phone with our department or online at ets.org, you will need a credit card available. If you come into our department to register, you can pay with a personal check.
Where can I find study materials for the GRE?
We have some test preparation materials in our office that can be looked over and most major bookstores carry test preparation materials. Additionally, you can find information about preparing for the GRE here: http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/prepare.
When do I get my scores?
You will see your unofficial scores for the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections once you have completed testing. Because of the Analytical Writing essay scoring process, you will not be able to view your Analytical Writing score at the testing center.
Official score reports for GRE tests taken after November 2011 will be sent to you and your selected institutions 10-15 business days after your test date. Each GRE test score is reported with a corresponding percentile rank, which indicates the percentage of examinees who took that test and received a lower score.
How many institutions can I send my scores to?
The day of the test you are given the opportunity to select up to four graduate institutions to receive your scores. If you choose to send score reports to more than four schools, or if you wait until after your test date to send score reports, you will be charged $25.00 per transcript. You can find more information about sending additional score reports here: http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/scores/send#asr.
