Transitioning to UC Uptown

Whether you are coming to UC's Clifton campus from high school or a branch campus, there are going to be differences in how you receive testing accommodations. This guide is intended to help prepare you for some of those differences.

Your first point of contact at UC regarding your testing accommodations is the Disability Services Office. This office will determine what accommodations you are eligible for at UC and will provide you with information about testing accommodations offered through Testing Services during your intake interview.

Testing Services coordinates accommodated testing at UC Uptown. Some professors choose to provide accommodations for their own tests, but all other accommodated tests are administered through Testing Services.

If you are coming to UC Uptown from high school, please consider the following:

  • In college, it becomes the student's responsibility to inform his/her professors that s/he would like to use testing accommodations in a reasonable amount of time
  • It is also the student's responsibility to ensure his/her test has been delivered to Testing Services before the scheduled appointment time (test delivery must be coordinated with your professor)
  • Testing Services and your professor must be notified at least 48 hours in advance of a desired testing appointment (NOTE: final exams must be scheduled 7 days in advance)
  • If you cannot take your test at the same time as the rest of your class (because it would be outside our hours of operation or receiving extended time would cause you to miss another class), you MUST speak with your professor about an appropriate alternative time to take your test
  • If you do not schedule your appointment before the registration deadline passes, you may have to take your test with the rest of your class and without accommodations

If you are coming to UC Uptown from a branch campus/different college or university, please consider the following:

  • Testing Services and your professor must be notified at least 48 hours in advance of a desired testing appointment (NOTE: final exams must be scheduled 7 days in advance)
  • Testing appointments are scheduled using our online registration system
  • All tests must be given during our hours of operation, listed on the bottom left-hand side of our webpage
  • Professors are encouraged to deliver tests to Testing Services before a scheduled testing appointment; however, it is the student's responsibility to speak with his/her professor about test delivery and to ensure the test has been received by Testing Services
