Margaret Buchanan was appointed March 31, 2006 to the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees for a term ending January 1, 2014. Buchanan holds a bachelor of arts in marketing and an MBA degree from UC.
The president and publisher of The Cincinnati Enquirer since 2003, Buchanan is a member of the Cincinnati Business Committee, the Commercial Club, the Women’s Leadership Collaborative and serves on the boards of the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, Fine Arts Fund and the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC). She is a member of the Northern Kentucky Vision 2015 Leadership Team, and in 2006 was named one of the Cincinnati YWCA’s Career Women of Achievement.
Buchanan began her newspaper career at The Enquirer in 1986. She later served in marketing and advertising management roles at the Rockford (IL) Register Star before becoming president and publisher of the Star-Gazette in Elmira, NY in 1996. She moved to Boise in 1999, where she was president and publisher of The Idaho Statesman and also served as a vice president in the Pacific Newspaper Group. Before joining The Enquirer, Buchanan was employed at Cincinnati Bell and the Cincinnati office of IBM.
She and her husband, Greg, have two sons.
