Research Orientation Series

The Office of Research is hosting a series of presentations and panel discussions aimed at introducing faculty to the various research offices at UC. The discussions will provide useful information for running a more efficient research program, including grant-writing tips from well-funded colleagues and discussions addressing issues of balancing career and family, time management and other timely issues. All interested faculty are welcome to attend.

For more information, e-mail Linda Minton.

April Sessions

Writing Winning Revisions

Presenter: David Morrison, PhD
Date: 4/2/2008
Time: 1:00 pm -- 5:00 p.m
Location: Vontz Auditorium

Target audience: Researchers.

Learning objectives: Relatively few proposals (at least these days) succeed on their first submission, which means that most applicants must revise and resubmit their grant applications.  Many are unsuccessful again because they lack full understanding of how revisions must be prepared to be successful.  This half-day seminar program provides tips and strategies for resubmitting a proposal that can often make the difference between success and failure.  The program can include discussion of the critiques of applications that have previously been submitted by members of the audience.

IACUC Staff

Date: 04/9/2008 or 04/23/2008
Time: Noon -- 4:00 p.m
Location: For 9th, East Campus Medical Center. For 23rd, Genome Research Institute.

Target audience: Newly hired animal researchers.

Learning objectives: Review of federal regulations, institutional policies and specifics concerning aseptic technique for the performance of survival surgery.
