TO: All Faculty at UC
FROM: Sandra J. Degen, PhD Vice President for Research
SUBJECT: University Research Council, Interdisciplinary Faculty Research Grants
________________________________________________________________________
Applications are now being accepted for the Spring, 2008 Interdisciplinary Faculty Research Support Program from the University Research Council.
PURPOSE: The Interdisciplinary Faculty Research Support Program is designed to support pilot research projects that are part of a collaborative effort between faculty in two or more disciplines. The goal of this program is to establish collaborative research efforts that will result in competitive research proposals to national funding agencies. Individuals who have previously collaborated may apply but they must clearly explain how the proposal addresses a new or seed money area of research. Successful applicants are expected to present records of prior activity that indicate a devotion to scholarship and the potential for high quality achievement.
ELIGIBILITY: All 80% FTE to full-time members of the University of Cincinnati Faculty are eligible for this award. Faculty teams awarded funding in the Spring or Fall 2007 URC Interdisciplinary Grant competition cannot apply for funding; however, individuals may still participate as part of a different team and new research project.
FUNDING PRIORITIES: Proposals will be evaluated based on the scholarly merit of the proposed activities, innovativeness of the proposed interdisciplinary program, the capabilities of the principal investigators, how the funds will be used as “seed money” for the collection of preliminary data, and future efforts to obtain funds from other sources.
AWARDS: Awards are limited to $25,000. It is anticipated that up to 4 grants will be funded.
Application Information: Additional information and application materials are available at http://www.uc.edu/ucResearch/funding_opportunities.html.
